The Graduate Student Association at Texas A&M University at Qatar organized and recently held Career Readiness Week in collaboration with the Office of Advancement.

Career Readiness Week was the first event of its kind to be held at Texas A&M at Qatar, and was designed to prepare graduate and senior undergraduate students to set their career goals, explore different career options, create their own professional network and improve their personal branding to help them land the job of their dreams.

Current students and alumni attended a series of talks, workshops and panel discussions offered by professionals from different industries in Qatar. Career development workshops were given by Mike Snakard, an established speaker and managing director of Snakard Consulting Group, and Executive Life Coach Faten El Ayache. Workshops on preparing LinkedIn profiles, CV writing and improving personal branding were presented by LinkedIn Account Director Lynn Cherry and HNI trainer Hisham Ibrahim. TotalEnergies gave a talk about their recruitment plans and advised our graduates and students on how to stand out from the crowd, in addition to conducting mock interviews. Mohamed Zebian, manager of the Accelerators Program at QSTP, gave a talk to aspiring Aggie entrepreneurs on how to identify a good startup idea. Finally, three panel discussions targeting three career paths — industry, entrepreneurship and academia — were led by Texas A&M at Qatar alumni, entrepreneurs and faculty.

Raffle prizes were given to 15 of the participants. The prizes were sponsored by Department of Student Affairs, the Student Engineer’s Council (Dolphin Energy) and Texas A&M at Qatar alumnus and entrepreneur Laila Al Qaedi, founder of MEDAD.
